| This
series was inspired by the Celtic Tree
Calendar and "Tree Spirit"
charms, that I found at my local bead
shop in Chicago.
It's
believed that the Druid's developed
The Celtic Tree Calendar based on the
thirteen moons per year and a corresponding
tree of special significance believed
to have particular magical qualities.
I've
composed the pieces in this series
with fabrics representing trees, either
representational or abstract; and some
have "Tree Spirit" charms,
which have a resemblance to green man. |

& self-taught artist Linda M. Olszanski

composes improvisational styled collage
quilts with a variety of fabrics, threads,

quilts composed of 3 separate layers;
she pieces, appliqués and embroiders directly
on a layered foundation of fabric and
quilt batting which results in immediate
dimensionality. |

| The
improvisational collage style of composing
allows me the freedom to explore and
discover unexpected evolutions of the
content and meaning behind the metaphorical
imagery.
While
the metaphoric images have specific
meaning to me, they are also enigmatic
in that the viewer can bring their own
personal experience to their interpretation.
A
full-time studio artist, instructor
and lecturer since 1994, Linda’s art
has been exhibited and collected internationally
