It explains "in practical, concise language and by well done illustrations, diagrams, charts, graphs and pictures, principles, advances& short cuts, based on modern practice, inculding instructions on how to figure and calculate various jobs." There are chapters from "Laying Out" to Hoisting Apparatus". There are 1,087 pages of instructions and diagrams. The slogan on the inside of the book reads "By Hammer and Hand All Things Do Stand".
All the pages in the book are intact with some slight yellowing from age. The cover shows some wear with some creases and wear on the edges.
