"Where is the rooster?"

~~A learning tool for the Visual and Tactile learner~~

You are bidding on an auditory processing activity, which includes the following  items:

• 1~Rooster--This plastic rooster measures approximately 1" x 1" and is so appealing to kids.  It should be stored away when not in use of this kit.  
• 1~Haystack--This diamond-shaped silicone liner is perfect when flipped upside down so that the rooster can sit on top of it.  This item is perfect for students/children who need to address sensory stimuli challenges in a playful and imaginative way.  
• 10~Spatial vocabulary word cards-these are laminated tabs, which measure approximately 2" x 3/4", and include the following words:  inside, outside, up, down, in front of, behind, above, between, over, under.  These word cards are intended to be used in conjunction with the literacy book, "Where is the rooster?"  This is an adapted book with graphics that have been designed specifically for this activity.  Word cards are placed inside the answer boxes in order to complete or provide the logical response.  **Velcro is not included, but can be purchased at any craft or superstore.  I have found velcoins work best.
• 1-"Where is the rooster?"--"Reasoning: Spatial Concepts-Opposites" Literacy Book-This 6 page book, measures 8 1/2"x 11".  It has been laminated and spiral/wire bound by an office supply store.  All graphics created herein are created by me for the sole purpose of this task.  They may not be recreated in any way without express or written permission of me.  **Again, you will need to add velcro to the squares/word boxes to complete the sentences which read as follows:  "The rooster is inside the barn."  Follow rooster on his daily adventure on the Farm and use the plastic rooster as a prop to model/test understanding of the spatial concepts learned addressed in the book.    
• Instruction Sheet (includes some recommended script to read and some extension actitivies).
• Teacher/Parent Checklist (lists suggested areas of observation). *Can be used for administrative purposes.

~~This activity is designed to promote auditory processing skills.  It can help address receptive and expressive language skills--specifically Wh? questions, prediction, logic and reasoning, etc... This is a fun exercise. The materials in this kit can be used to promote a variety of cognitive skills; one-to-one correspondence, receptive & expressive language skills, imaginative playskills, etc...  The versatility of the items in this kit is wonderful.  ~~Enjoy!

~~Just a side note, simple activities such as this one allow children to use process skills, which helps them organize the world around them.  In this particular activity, a rooster sits on top of a haystack.  According to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), they support the use of simple sorting and classifying activities within early childhood learning environments.  Because of my involvement with early learning/preschool learning environments, I have used and tested many of these types of activities and think that you will enjoy it too. Due to the hands-on nature of this activity, this activity is perfect for children ages 2 and over.  ~~  Enjoy!
