Thank you for visiting my auctions! I purchased a grouping of over 300 Audubon Octavo Edition Bird Prints. These are not the originals which sell for hundreds of dollars. They are 40-50 year old (my best guess) high quality reproductions that apparently had been removed from some sort of text. This print is in MINT condition The print measures 8 1/2 x 11" so it will fit very nicely into a store bought frame, and has plenty of margin around the image to add matting to "frame" the original size of the Octavo Edition ... approximately 6 1/2 x 10 1/4" There is an image on the reverse side which WILL NOT show through when framed. You will find the majority of these listed in my ebay store for $9.99 ... I will occasionally move a few to the auction site. I carefully ship between 2 pieces of cardboard for only $5.95 and I will combine ship to the same address to save you $$$. Should you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Once again ... thanks for your visit !!! he Yellow-crowned Night Heron (Nyctanassa violacea, formerly placed in the genus Nycticorax), also called the American Night Heron or squawk, is a fairly small heron, similar in appearance to the Black-crowned Night Heron. It is found throughout a large part of the Americas, especially (but not exclusively) in warmer coastal regions.A related heron, the Bermuda Night Heron, was endemic to Bermuda, but became extinct following human colonisation. DescriptionAdults are about 61 cm long and weigh 625 g. They have a white crown and back with the remainder of the body grayish, red eyes and short yellow legs. They have a white stripe below the eye. Juveniles resemble young Black-crowned Night-Herons, being mainly brown flecked with white or gray.
BehaviourIn warmer locations, some are permanent residents; others migrate to Central America and the West Indies. They may occasionally wander north to the lower Great Lakes or Ontario after the breeding season. FeedingThese birds stalk their prey or wait in ambush at the water's edge, mainly at night. They mainly eat crustaceans, mollusks, frogs, aquatic insects and small fish. BreedingTheir breeding habitat is swamps and marshes from the eastern United States to north-eastern South America. They often nest in colonies, usually on platforms of sticks in trees or shrubs overhanging water. they lay 3–5 pale blue-green eggs. |
