Wolf, and others, George Routledge and Sons, London, (no date but c.1870), small octavo original bright gilt stamped pictorial red cloth with ornate vignette of child blowing horn; chromolithograph. Book in fine condition, with interior cracked gutter, not affecting binding integrity - RARE

This is an exceptional British children's book, published sometime within 5 or 6 years of the end of the American Civil War. It is in very fine condition with exception note, and is most handsomely illustrated with exquisite cuts of a very endearing Pre Raphaelite sensitivity and beauty from which they were no doubt deeply influenced. And at 93 illustrations, this litte volume carries great visual impact. The cover is a delight and the gilt particularly bright and strong as is the ornate Renaissance style black stamping. A gorgeous copy of a very early childs book in highly collectible condition - you won't be dissapointed!
