How was it made?First several holes were drilled through the coin, and then, using a very fine-tooth jewelers saw, a portion of the coin background was "cut away." What you see in the photo is the part of the coin not cut out -- the darker area is the part you can see through! That is the part that is cut away.
And this cutting is done by hand; no laser cutting or machinery was used to carve away the coin! A true piece of coin art!
It may look fragile, but it is stronger than you think. A coin artist uses a special "angled cut," some refer to as "pyramiding," and applies this technique to the little connections that secure the design to the coin's rim. The back side of the coin is thicker at those connections than you see on the front.
Your new coin jewelry will look similar to that pictured, lightly polished retaining the original metal look and patina.
