Very unusual small piece of MAJOLICA POTTERY encased in a hand-crafted folk art WIRE BASKET ! The majolica measures approx. 4 3/4" accross and 3/4" high. 3 original kiln marks are on the bottom. Nice glaze in green and design of 3 ladies at a well with 2 pitchers and a tub. The basket is made of fine pewter colored wire that has been painted gold. The wire is still supple and not broken. See all photos to view the excellent construction! Basket measures approx. 8 1/2" accross and 3" high. Handle is all intact. No chips, cracks, hairlines or damage to the majolica or basket at all. The bottom of majolica is impressed with the numbers: 204. There are a couple tiny 'rubs' in the glaze of the majolica rim where the wire is resting on but these are so minute they are barely discernible. A very interesting and unusual piece.
