Qumran Tithe Jar

God doesn’t need our money, but our cheerful giving pleases Him. Recall the widow that was honored by Jesus for giving what she could, two mites. Even before that time, in ancient Judea, a Tithe Jar like this was used to accumulate tithes and offerings to present to the Lord. In Malachi 3:10, we read, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

Pottery vessels from the first century have been discovered in Qumran along with the Dead Sea Scrolls. While each vessel performed various duties as needed, it has been documented that some of these vessels were used for the storage of scripture, others for accumulating of tithes, and still others for the storage of food, grains and other valuables. You can now enjoy decorating your home, church or temple with reproductions that are made of the same materials, and in the same way, as were those vessels of old from the Holy Land.
