Autumn Hollow Hand Turned Drop Spindle in Curly Maple & Lapis Lazuli!










This bottom whorl drop spindle is hand turned in curly and birds eye maple with a band of crushed lapis lazuli inlaid stone. It's 11.5 inches long with a 9.75 inch shaft above the whorl and a polished brass hook.  The whorl is 2 & 3/4 inches wide and turned for a rim weight and a nice long spin. It weighs 1.3 ounces (37 grams).

Curly maple is a classic among wood turners.  It's figure and shimmer make it one of the most beautiful of the lighter woods.  The shaft features several pronounced birds eyes in the figure.

We crush our stone inlays by hand from undyed, natural, gem quality stone.  The difference this makes in color is truly stunning!  But that's why we do it.  :)
