Freakin' Amazing Edgy Avant Garde
Black Deconstructed Italian Designer NIU Jacket

Oh dear God, can I just take a moment to say how much I loooooove this freaking fabulous great jacket? I don't often rave, but consider me raving now! When I first saw and touched it, I was ready to swear it was a Yohji Yamamoto, or one of the other great avant garde Japanese designers, but, no. It's a new, Italian deconstructionist designer, so there you have it. The fabulous deconstruction, the fabric, the construction, the detailing, just dayumed amazing. All right, I'll stop raving now and get on with describing it.

It features extremely dramatic large diagonally set flapped pockets on either side, with lots of great seamwork. The flap of the pockets and the deeply notched collar are frayed on the edges. Down the center front it is very deconstructed, with the same fraying, but with long decorative loose threads on either side, and large metal hooks and eyes fastening from behind, so the threads stay up front and center as a design element. With all the seamwork, and the back flaring out sculpturally (and dipping down slightly), it's quite fitted and highly flattering. The back center panel is cut on the bias, and there are princess seams front and back. Made of black textured wool (60%), polyester (35%), polyamide (5%) blend, and fully lined in cotton. The designer is Italian - Niu, Italy - a high end house that does conceptual work. I really can't praise the genius and workmanship of this jacket highly enough.
