An Avery needle case from the collection of my friend, the late Ruth Mann.  Ruth was the co-author of the book "Victorian Brass Needlecases" and this one -- this very one -- is pictured in the book on page 58.

The Walnut on Leaf was patented by W. Avery& Son of Redditch, England on May 8, 1873.  It is in excellent condition -- the clasp and hinge are intact and the body has no dents or repairs.

It measures 2 3/8" by 2" at the base and is 1 1/4" high.
