Racing suit identical to those worn by Ayrton Senna during his 1989 Formula 1 campaign where he went head-to-head with his team mate, Alain Prost, and finished in second place in the F1 Championship.  Unable to determine if this particular suit was worn by Ayrton.  Senna racing suits are seldom offered for public sale.  This prized suit could round out any F1 memorabilia collection or form the center piece of another.  F1 enthusiasts worldwide consider Ayrton one of the best, if not the very best, F1 drivers the world has ever seen.  Tragically, his stellar career, including three F1 World Championships, was cut short when he died in a tragic accident during the San Marino Grand Prix in Italy in 1994.

The suit offered here is a Stand 21 suit (the McLaren team changed to OMP Raceware suits in 1990).  Photographs of the suit from various views are provided below.  Additionally, pictures of Ayrton wearing a suit nearly identical to this suit during the 1989 season are provided.  All of the labels on this suit are shown in the photographs.  The suit was somewhat soiled when it was acquired in 2003 so it was dry cleaned (in retrospect, not a great move!).  It is now in "like new" condition with little or no wear and tear.

In addition to the suit, the winning bidder will receive a limited edition lithograph, numbered and hand signed by English artist Craig Warwick, titled “10^th Anniversary.”  Warwick painted this picture in 2004 as a tribute to Ayrton on the 10^th anniversary of his death.  One of the pictures below shows this lithograph along side the racing suit.  Proceeds from the sale of the lithograph all go to the Ayrton Senna Foundation, Ltd., devoted to furthering the potential of future generations.

A $1,000.00 non-refundable deposit is payable within 48 hours of the end of the auction.  Payment of this deposit may be via PayPal, bank wire transfer, or cashier’s check.  The balance is due within 7 days of the end of the auction payable by cash (in person), bank wire transfer, cashier’s check or personal check.  Checks, including cashier’s checks, must clear before the suit will be released.  PayPal may be used to pay the balance provided the buyer pays the transaction fees, if any (typically no fees for US dollar transactions unless buyer is using a credit or debit card or PayPal buyer credit).
