Grading System: (All records are graded visually unless otherwise specified)
SS (Still Sealed): Never opened; never played.
M (Mint): The record looks new and sounds as though it was never played. There are no surface marks, flaws, defects, or deterioration in sound quality.
NM (Near Mint): The vinyl appears brand new, with no scuffing or any deterioration in sound quality, and only the smallest hint that its ever been played.
NM- (Near Mint -): The LP is nearly perfect, with very slight signs of age or wear that would be purely cosmetic. At most, it may have a very minor, barely visible scuff or two, but no scratches. The record should play with no audible noise.
EX+ (Excellent +): The vinyl shows some signs of having been played, such as a couple of scuffs or a hairline scratch, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
VG++ (Very Good ++): The LP displays only slight signs of wear; very clean, only light surface marks which will not distract significantly from the sound. It is a well-cared-for record that is noticeably less than perfect, but defects are not visually or audibly distracting, such as very slight static.
VG+ (Very Good +): The vinyl will show wear, including surface scuffs and some light scratches. The quality of the sound is somewhat affected. There may be some surface noise and minimal skipping; however the record is still very listenable as there are no deep scratches that cause major skips.
VG (Very Good): The LP will have noise evident upon playing, but will not overpower the music otherwise. There may be deeper scratches and wear causing distracting surface noise hisses, pops, and cracks. (However, at higher volume levels, the music may overpower these sounds). There may be more noisy sound during quiet passages. Vinyl doesn't necessarily look great, but still plays well enough. In sum, it is a used, reasonable copy to play.
G (Good): The vinyl is probably well played and looks it. It will have the same defects as VG, but they will be more exaggerated, more prevalent, and/or more common.
F (Fair): The LP will be a further step down from VG. Fair records are useful to complete sets or will occasionally be found in large lots.
P (Poor): Do not waste your money. LP Nostalgia does not sell records in poor condition.
