Corgi - Today's Leader in Die-Cast Military Aviation This is a Brand New MIB Corgi 1:72 scale B-24J Liberator. This may be one of the most recognizable B-24's ever due to it's The Dragon and His Tail paint scheme which she wore most of it's combat career. Based in Le Shima, a place described as a "lump of coral in the Bonins," this 44-40973 first flew on June 3, 1944 and fought throughout the Pacific as part of the 43rd Bomb Group. Bartigan, who created this masterpiece, was famous for creating similar fuselage-length murals for many 43rd Bomb Group Liberartors. Unfortunately, this aircraft failed t survive the war. After 85 missions, The Dragon and His tail went to Kingman, Arizona for smelter. As part of the Aviation Archive Series this model comes with a fully operational undercarriage and display stand to allow for display "Wheels Up or Wheels Down". The wingspan on the B-24 is 18".
