This is a Rare Vintage 1937 Babar Storybook Print from the Babar Book Series by Jean de Brunhoff
This beautiful print is from the year 1937, and depicts the monkey village of the Babar character Zephir
This is an illustration from the book "Babar and Zephir."
The text on the page in the book (which is not part of this print or auction) reads: “Zephir arrives at the station of Monkeyville and throws himself into his mother's arms. "Gracious! How you've grown, my darling!" she says, as ske kisses him on both cheeks.”
This Storybook print has a white mat, and is covered with plastic. Print size is 12" x 20" not including the mat. The full size with the mat is 20" x 28" This storybook print is the double page spread from large early editions of this book. They originate from England. The center of each print has a vertical crease at the center of the picture where it would have been creased as part of the book.
