BAD HATS
Year : 1982 Director : Pascal Ortega Cast : Marcel Bozzuffi, Mick Ford, Catherine Lachens Release Label : Memory Video Production Language : English Subtitles : Greek Tape format : PAL The only made-for-TV movie in the bunch, this ultra, ultra obscure movie I don’t think has had a single UK showing at least. In fact, apart from it showing up Set during WW1, two soldiers, one British (Mick Ford, who played ‘Archer’ in SCUM) and one French (Marcel Bozzuffi), meet up in a forest after deserting from the trenches. Both are battle-scarred and sick of the war. But, both know within themselves living up to their motto “We do what we want!” can’t last forever, and it’s only a matter of time before the firing squad awaits them… I’m a huge Marcel Bozzuffi fan, and this is one of his least-seen movies of all. Apart from Robert Altman’s IMAGES, this is one of his most extensive English language roles, and for once, he’s not dubbed. It’s also quite the novelty to hear him swear and cuss in English. Mick Ford’s character makes a habit of it here, and it makes his character a bit irritating, so Bozzuffi is definitely the better actor of the two. Largely set within one location, and most of that with the two central actors, BAD HATS is a potent anti-war tract. The futility of the ‘Great War’ is conveyed well enough (even though there is very little battle footage), but in a unique way. An ultra-rare and virtually unknown movie in itself, it sets itself apart and definitely deserves the wider release it never received. This Greek VHS represents – in all probability – the only commercial release this film ever had. Full-screen, but this is the correct aspect ratio.

Make sure your VHS player can play that format - no refunds will be available if it can't. Also, the spoken language on each respective item is specified - ensure you're aware of this before bidding on the item. 3) Postal costs and specifics on how the item is sent is down to the buyer - if you want it sent recorded, special, packaged a certain way, or via courier, I'm happy to do it – but I emphasise that any costs involved for this are down to the buyer. Items sent via Courier, especially internationally, may incur great expense. Once you are sure of the method you want, I will send a Paypal invoice to reflect this. If you are a non-UK bidder, it would be a good idea to email me before the auction ends or within 48 hours after it ends, so's exact postage costs can be ascertained. 4) If you have won multiple items, then shipping them in one package isn’t a problem. Postal costs for combining would then need to be ascertained, depending on how many items are involved. 5) I will normally send items for UK residents as 2nd Class Standard, and international residents as International Signed For. If you want to select an alternative postal method, then please let me know either while the auction is still running, or within 48 hours of it closing. This allows me to send a fully accurate Paypal invoice quicker.
