Barbie in OOAK costume ~~ Quilting Bee.

Costume is prairie style. It is 100% cotton in beautiful roses of pink and dark red (also some white and ecru). It is trimmed at neck, sleeves , bodice and hem in ecru cotton crochet lace as would have been the type in her era. Women crocheted their own lace.

The bodice is trimmed in ecru crochet lace and tiny pink buttons down the front. There is an ecru crochet lace collar with pink silk ribbon at the neckline. The dress also has a large bow at the front bodice/skirt. Also trimmed in ecru cotton crochet lace at the sleeve ends and hemline. The dress closes in back with snaps covered with tiny pink buttons.

Underneath she is wearing a one piece chemise/bloomers of tan muslin trimmed in crochet lace and pink ribbon and a petticoat of tan muslin (muslin fits the era) and trimmed in ecru crochet lace. All three items close in back with snaps. There are tiny pink buttons over the snaps of the petticoat waistband.

The bonnet is a store bought straw which is trimmed with cotton ecru crochet lace. There are three little ribbon roses on each side of the bonnet. The ties on the bonnet are pale pink ribbon.

She is wearing pink boots with black soles and what appear to be buttons or buckles on the sides.

She has on one arm a partially finished quilt of a different fabric which looks like a pieced quilt and is backed with tan muslin. It has ecru cotton crochet lace on one side, the other side is open with the batting showing. The colors are the same hues as the costume -- reds, pinks, mostly.

In the other hand she carries a basket with pieces of the quilt material which are rolled up and tied with red silk ribbon. Also in the basket is the ecru cotton crochet lace, all to finish her quilt at the Quilting Bee.

For quilting fans ~~ she is adorable.

This has been created in my smoke free, etc., home. All materials and the doll are brand new. The doll is gorgeous. She has long auburn hair that is pulled back at the face and has several twisted coils from the face to the back. The ends of her long soft shiny hair are curled under. Her eyes are a blue/green. Lips are a light mauve. Not too much make-up in keeping with the era. This doll was de-boxed for this costume. She is brand new, never displayed.
