VERY VINTAGE BATES
ADDRESS FINDER
● NO MODEL NUMBER ●
Since this Address Finder has no Model number printed on it, this Bates may be one of the earliest in production.
On the underside of the metal are the following:
THE BATES MFG. COMPANY, ORANGE, NJ., U.S.A
19201 and a logo (see photo )
Patent numbers / dates: Jan 24, 1933 and
April 26, 1938 (the later patent date)
When found this address finder had a set of A-Z ‘cards’ within; I am not sure whether they are original. The cards are ‘Model K’, “THE BATES MFG. COMPANY, ORANGE, NJ., U.S.A.” The cards have writing on them. These cards were attached originally to a pad, by perforations. Most of the cards are now detached. I will ship the Bates address finder with these cards, also. Notes on the pages do indicate the time of the writing – since no telephone area codes are used (to differentiate areas of Chicago; some prefixes are written with the letters instead of numbers (Graceland, Lincoln, Juniper, Amb.. Rep., Shakespeare….).
Please e-mail with any questions. Thanks for looking.
Note to winning bidder: If buyer not satisfied, I will refund winning bid price and original shipping cost; return shipping cost not refundable. After winning the auction, the bidder must reply to the seller’s invoice/e-mail within 3 days or seller reserves the right to relist item.
