BEAUTIFUL 7X10 ANTIQUE SW PERSIAN KHAMSEH/SHIRAZ CARPET

ANTIQUE KHAMSEH-SHIRAZ TRIBAL CARPET, SW Persian, early 20th century, and in most excellent condition. The exact size is: 7'-4" x 10'-4" (224 x 315 cm). Three large totemic medallions rest on a madder red field with indigo blue corner spandrels. Throughout the carpet we see birds, animals, stars, and flower heads as filler elements that give the carpet a tribal folk life personality. This decorative room-size carpet comes in near-mint condition with basically full pile. It was woven in a cottage setting with high quality wool and 100% natural dyes. It has wool warps and wefts. The side cord over-castings are original and the ends are sewn back secure to prevent future loss of knots. This carpet came out of a private home in Damascus, Syria and was NEVER walked upon with shoes. It has been professionally cleaned and is ready for immediate use. It is very soft and silky to the touch with a supple handle to it. There are NO rips, holes, tears, repairs, reweaves, dryness, stains, odors, color run, bleeding, or moth damage.
