This auction is for a VINTAGE 1930's HANDMADE QUILT TOP. This unique one-of-a-kind piece of artwork is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. It was all hand stitched together and just needs the backing put on this one comes with the backing the two pieces just have to be put together. Please note that these were found in a trunk in an attic with the following newspaper dated from the 1930's, the actual piece could be older.
We have had the privilege of recently working with a gentleman in our area that was left a large estate by his aunt. The estate was left to him by his 92 year old socialite aunt. She was the grandaughter of a whaling captain out of New Bedford whose ship was The Bark Susan. She was the direct descendant of the founding fathers of the town of Marion Massachusettes. She was part of the upper crust of "old money" on Buzzards Bay/Cape Cod. The truth of the matter is that once something entered her house it was sure to NEVER leave (and we mean never). After months of sifting through her belongings, which included the estates of three other women of similar status and wealth, it has been found that several items were imported or rare to say the least. These women often gave dinner parties and were known to give fund raising clam bakes during WWII and after. Everything has been handed down through the generations and now are being offered by the last living descendent, her nephew, to the general public. Her nephew simply does not have the space to store everything she had and now just seeks loving homes for each of her treasured belongings. Some items are sure to be much older than even she was, as items were passed down from her parents to herself. It is hard to put into words the amazing product you are going to find!! This estate includes thousands of antiques ranging from pottery & china to toys, post cards, and more. We are listing these items for him in hopes of finding each of these beautiful pieces a new loving home. There is guaranteed to be something for every collector out there.
