 My brother and I were on the front cover of the 1964 Sports Illustrated issue with Arnold Palmer and about 20 other junior golfers, and where the above quote first appeared. 

 

That year, at age 12,  I learned the importance of playing golf by the rules, and how golf is similar to life.  I learned how golf teaches us about honesty, integrity, how to confront adversity, in golf and in life!

 

Another reason I started Reciprocal Golf is because I know the value of meeting successful people on the golf course.  The impression they make on you, and the impression you make on them, can benefit you both for the rest of your lives!  My Junior year in college, I spent the summer at the local golf course, and asked the pro to let me join visiting golfers when they teed off.  I played with visitors to our town, became friends during each 18 holes, and earned over $45,000 in real estate commissions that summer selling local real estate to my newfound friends!

 

That one summer season, at age 21, gave me the self-image and confidence to have a very successful real estate career for the next 16 years!  About 98% of my sales were to people I met and played with on the golf course. 

 

I then had a very successful second career building custom fit golf clubs as the owner of www.probegolf.com, where we had over 23 VICTORIES ON THE SENIOR PGA TOUR by tour pros who used our PROBE custom fit drivers and/or our PROBE 20/20 inverted-shafted putter!   I had the pleasure of building a Probe driver for Arnold Palmer, and he used my Probe 20/20 putter as well in 1992 and 1993.

 

I had the pleasure of making Larry Laoretti a PROBE driver the week before the 1992 Senior United States Open.  Larry called me from his motorhome on Monday, the day after the Open, and told me the driver won the tournament for him!  Larry then told me, “I told (runners-up) Nicklaus, Player, and Weiskopf that they weren’t going to catch me, because of the way I was driving it!”
