Bill has been in the venture capital industry for over 20 years. His focus has been on enterprise software and companies related to the semiconductor industry. He is currently on the boards of Papilia, Fortressware, and Bandspeed, and is on the advisory boards of several other privately held companies. Past investments include Sandisk (SNDK), Silicon Architects (acquired by Synopsys (SNPS), Calico Commerce (acquired by Peoplesoft/Oracle(ORCL), Newport Communications (acquired by Broadcom (BRCM), Simplex Solutions (acquired by Cadence (CDN), Excess Bandwidth Corporation (acquired by Virata (VRTA), and Verplex Design Systems (acquired by Cadence (CDN), Nextest (acquired by Teradyne (TER) and Sabio Labs (acquired by Magma (LAVA).
Bill is active in philanthropy. His current activities include; Board member of CARE USA, youthNoise and The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology, and Advisory Boards of the Deans of Engineering of The University of California at Berkeley and The University of Illinois at Chicago, Environmental Entrepreneurs, the Global Philanthropy Forum, and the Entrepreneurs Foundation.
Bill earned an A.B. in Education from the University of Illinois.
Bill also sits on the Anita Borg Institute Board of Trustees as Vice Chair.

In this auction you are bidding on a 2-hour lunch meeting with Bill Unger.
The winner can select a local restaurant in Boston, New York, Chicago, or the Bay Area (preferred) for this lunch meeting.
The winner has the option of inviting up to 2 additional colleagues to attend the lunch meeting.
The lunch meeting should be scheduled before December 1, 2008, and will be based around Bill’s availability.
The winners’ eBay screen name (not first and last name) will be announced at the Women of Vision Awards banquet on May 8, 2008. You do not need to be present at this event to win.
The winner must participate in a brief phone meeting with ABI staff before the lunch meeting can be scheduled.
Once payment has been received, the winners’ contact information will be sent to Bill for scheduling purposes.
All funds raised through this auction will be donated to the Anita Borg Institute.
