I started my grove with two small plants from a well known mail order catalog and paid nearly $100. for each one! It took two-three years for these to really take off, so it's important that you continue to keep these watered and be patient while the roots are re-establishing themselves. You'll think that nothing is happening, but indeed-it is! Never let the roots dry out and upon receving these make sure to open the box immediately and plant and water!
I've provided a springtime picture from my grove showing the range of colors that you get with these black bamboos.
Please bear in mind that this is a bamboo and does spread and will form a thick grove!
