Originally released in 1979, DOWN AND DIRTY...PLUS is an expanded reissue of one of the great live albums of the entire 1970s outlaw country movement. Influenced as much by blues and rock & roll as he is by traditional country, Bobby Bare steamrollers through outdated genre descriptors on storming tunes like "Good For Nothing Blues" and "Numbers." However, Bare was also an effective ballad singer, as shown by his touching versions of "Some Days Are Diamonds" and Townes Van Zandt's heartbreaking "Tecumseh Valley."
Mojo (Publisher) (p.116) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[O]ne of country music's most atmospheric live albums....DOWN AND DIRTY has garnered a reputation to be measured alongside Cash's AT FOLSOM PRISON and AT SAN QUENTIN."
