ITEM DETAILS: I would like to note up front that I am -- by no means -- an expert on glass items. In fact, aside from the pieces that I buy for myself, it is not something that I sell very often. When I found this piece, though, I was really quite taken -- and couldn't resist offering it. After some exhaustive research, I do believe this is Bohemian glass, although I do not know who might have made it. If you should have any information regarding it, please feel free to email me. Thank you!
This auction features a Bohemian art glass decanter. I actually feel it was intended as a decanter, but it is so beautiful -- if the stopper is removed -- it could easily be used as a vase instead. The color is a deep purple, which cuts to a clear glass around the sides. These are somewhat elongated ovals or circles, depending on the location. There are also either painted or enameled flowers applied to these, which seem to alternate between each oval (i.e. - one oval will bear flowers, whereas the next one will not). The upper rim edge is gilded, and there is some other painted gold areas around the areas where the flowers are applied. The stopper bears similar flowers and cut designs, is solid on the top, but is open on the very bottom. I have tried to give an idea of the true color in the first and second pictures below. This was taken with bright light in the background, as I just couldn't seem to capture it in the other pictures (it seems much darker in those than it really does in person). I considered placing a reserve on this piece, but I've finally decided against it. I just don't like reserves -- even after 5 years. I am really hoping others will see the same beauty and brilliance in this piece as I do. Important Note on Shipping: This decanter does weigh a little over 2 POUNDS by itself. As it is glass, I am REQUIRING insurance for it -- including to any international destination. Please be aware that it will likely be VERY EXPENSIVE to send internationally. I will also double-box it for safety. If you are still interested, though, please email me for a quote. Thank you!
CONDITION: Fair - I am considering the age and use of this item when factoring the condition. As this piece is vintage or older, I would say it rates in Fair condition overall. I have spent quite a bit of time looking it over very carefully. There are some minor issues seen, but I really feel -- with everything considered -- it does appear to be doing okay. First and foremost, the inside is very cloudy or dirty. I suspect it was likely used just as it was intended at one time and there is evidence there because of this. I will leave any cleaning to the new owner. I have checked and rechecked this piece for major chips or cracks -- but, as far as I can tell, there aren't any that I could find. There are a few minor flea bites (extraordinarily tiny) around the upper rim, and around the bottom of the stopper (where it is open), but I really had to look to find those. I did note some wear (again, minor) to a few of the painted or enameled flowers. Some of this may even be left over from when it was made, but I did want to mention it for accuracy. There are definite surface scratches seen -- particularly to the very bottom edges (where it would be set on a solid surface). I am considering this as relatively minor, but I do know that others may not feel the same -- so they are there, nonetheless. I am often highly critical of the items that I sell, but I really do feel this piece is doing okay. There are no major chips, cracks, or missing pieces that I could find. Aside from the internal soiling and minor exterior wear, I really feel it is a gorgeous piece. With age and use considered, I would still say it rates in Fair condition overall.
AGE/ YEAR MADE: Although exact age is unknown, I do believe this piece is vintage (if you should happen to have a better idea on the age, please email me. Thanks!)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: PLEASE READ!
ABOUT MY ITEMS
I do my very best to accurately describe the items that I sell, listing their imperfections just as much as their attributes. I always try to note flaws very carefully so there are no surprises when an item is received. I purchase my items from a variety of sources (Estate Sales, Auctions, Second Hand Stores, Etc), and I go on internal instinct and a certain amount of “learned” experience, as well. After 4 years on eBay, I have become quite good at evaluating costume jewelry. Please know, though, that I am NOT an expert in any given category. The items I sell are nearly always older and/ or used, and will likely show evidence of this. Being human, I occasionally may miss something. Please know, too, that this is never done intentionally. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION FULLY & CAREFULLY! I believe that the detailed description, along with the pictures (which I often pay extra for), will help provide a better understanding of what is being offered. If you still have questions (or if you see something that I have missed), please email me and I will be happy to help you. On that same note, I will now be more cautious about feedback ratings. I reserve the right to remove a bid placed from an eBayer whom I feel abuses the feedback system (i.e. – excessive negative and/or neutral feedback received AND/OR left), or appears to consistently bid and then not pay. I have never monitored this in the past, but I feel now I must have to. I am realizing that – although my feedback is EXTREMELY important to me – it is not always the same with others. If you do not want a used item – or something that is NOTED as having flaws -- PLEASE DO NOT BID! I strive to make your experience with me as excellent as I can, but if you do not contact me for assistance, or do not read the description thoroughly, I do not feel I am even being given a chance. Most of my customers have been very happy with their purchases, but the few issues I’ve had has forced me to put this "disclaimer" in. PLEASE CONTACT ME if you find a problem! I will do everything possible to correct it! It you are unhappy with your purchase, you are welcome to return it for a full refund within 7 days, simply paying for return shipping.
INSURANCE, PAYMENT, & MISCELLANEOUS
Insurance IS required for all breakable/ glass items, and is STRONGLY SUGGESTED for those items that I have marked "optional." If your item breaks, or is lost, en route I cannot be held responsible without proper insurance on the item. Insurance at least helps reduce this risk. *** Payment for items is due within 7 days of close of auction, or the item will be relisted and an NPB form will be filed with eBay. I prefer PayPal, but also accept Money Orders or Cashier’s Checks from US customers. Sorry, NO personal checks! (Note: For International Customers, Paypal is the only form of payment I accept). I am MORE than happy to combine shipping (within a 5 day period), please just contact me prior to final bidding so that I know that is what you intend on doing. *** I love eBay -- but I do also have a full-time job. I am not one of the "big" sellers on eBay -- "the*stellar*seller" really IS just ONE person finding items, listing, selling, packing, and shipping! I always go in order of payment received to ship, though, -- and do my very best to get all items in the mail within 5 days. Thank you for understanding!
International & Domestic Shipping:
*** SPECIAL NOTE: DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH SHIPMENTS, I WILL NO LONGER SHIP TO ITALY. *** I do apologize, but I can no longer take the risk. Thank you for understanding.
The US Postal Service recently did a major overhaul on their services and pricing "structure." This has caused me a great deal of stress in the last few months, as I have (often times) been paying out of pocket to compensate for the increases. I DO NOT purposely inflate shipping charges for a profit; in fact, if the charge is GROSSLY over ($2.00 or more), I will refund the excess. With that in mind, I would appreciate the understanding that the charges seen are really what USPS is charging me to send any given item. *** For International packages – Small items (such as jewelry) can be sent relatively inexpensively via First Class International (formerly “Air Mail”). I will now likely have to limit my shipping of large or heavy items overseas, though, if for no other reason than the excessive cost. This means that, on large (or heavy), and high-priced items, you will need to be willing to pay a VERY high cost to ship an item to your country. The cost of insurance ALWAYS inflates the overall cost of shipping. I've never understand the PO rationale behind this, but it appears to be pretty standard. If you are unwilling to do that -- believe me, I do understand. Finally, I ask International customers to please NOT ask me to falsify claims forms. Not only is it illegal, but it is also against my business ethics to lie on customs forms. If you should have any questions about shipping costs or, for that matter any questions at all, please contact me and I will do my best to help you. Thank you! :)
I appreciate your interest! Thank you for stopping by, and be sure to check out my other auctions!
*** I HAVE SOME GREAT ITEMS UP RIGHT NOW. PLEASE SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS! AS ALWAYS, I AM HAPPY TO COMBINE SHIPPING, TOO. THANK YOU! ***
