Up for auction is a hardcover book from the private collection of the late famous illustrator Rockwell Kent. Kent's personal bookplate is attached to front inside cover. The bookplate is the "Sally and Rockwell Kent" plate from 1955. Kent loss most of his collection in a fire and most of the surviving books do have some moisture damage- and this book does have some buckling to the pages. The bookplate itself is in excellent conditon however. The book is a autobiography of Russian author Samuel Marshak titled "At Life's Beginning: Some Pages Of Reminiscence. New York: E P Dutton & Co. Inc 1964 on title page. 208 pages and illustrated with drawings. The book is well bound with solid hinges. A little wear to the covers and a slight odor from the book being exposed to moisture. It is the bookplate- which was designed by Kent for his personal books that is the item of value here- not the book- Although the fact that kent owned the book does add some interest. Nowdays Kent's personal bookplates are getting quite scarce. We had 4 books from his private collection with  his plates and this is the last book we have.
