RARE BOOK with title on cover & spine: "GUIDE BOOK FOR MOUNT DESERT." On cover page: "MOUNT DESERT, ON THE COAST OF MAINE. 'Infinite riches in a little room' BY MRS. CLARA BARNES MARTIN. SIXTH EDITION. PORTLAND: LORING, SHORT & HARMON. 1885."

HARDCOVER. 115 PAGES + 7 PAGES OF ADVERTISEMENTS AT THE END.

MAP. Included with the book is a map of "MT. DESERT ISLAND MAINE Scale 1/80,000. 1875." At upper right: "Topography surveyed by J.W. Donn Assistant between 1871 and 1874. Issued October 1875. C.P. PATTERSON Superintendent. Verification by J.E. Hilgard Assistant in charge of Office." The map fits into a slot on the inside of the back cover (see scan 10). Map is in very good to excellent condition. Creased due to folding. There is one very tiny piece missing where bottom horizontal fold meets the left edge. There are a few light marks. Otherwise, clean and sharp. Exceptionally well kept.

TIPPED IN PHOTOGRAPHS. There are 5 tipped in albumen photographs throughout the book. Books with tipped in albumen photos are scarce.

SIZE. The book is approximately 7 3/8 x 5 1/8 inches.

CONDITION. Outside covers show some wear. Spine is in good condition. Inside has some light foxing. Light discoloration that comes with age. This book is in very good condition.
