BOSTON BRAVES WARREN SPAHN & JOHN SAIN 1948







"Spahn and Sain and pray for rain," was the Braves' motto for the 1948 stretch drive, as they pushed toward their first pennant since 1914. That season Spahn was actually not much more effective than the Braves' third and fourth starters.
This is a little poem that was written for them:
First we'll use Spahn
then we'll use Sain
Then an off day
followed by rain
Back will come Spahn
followed by Sain
And followed
we hope
by two days of rain.
 

 My dad was a pro sports photographer who had accumulated nearly 30 career awards for his sports pictures before retiring in 1976 with great honors.

I am offering,  (1) one 5" X 7", unframed, black & white action duplicate, photograph.


Dad would sometimes make one or two more larger prints as contest entries (he won nearly 30 career awards for this sports photos before retiring in the mid-1970s to great local fan-fare and media attention).
