Nice 8x10" Color glossy promotional of french bomb shell Brigitte Bardot
Born in Paris France, on September 28, 1934.
At an early age with her mother's encouragement, Brigitte took up music & dance,
she proved to be very adept. By the time she was 15 years old, Brigitte tried modeling,
& quickly found herself in the French magazine Elle.
Her beauty readily apparent, Brigitte was soon lured into film, where she appeared
in over 50 productions. In 1952, she appeared on screen for the first time
as Javotte Lemoine in 'Trou normand, Le' (1952). Two other films followed,
& in the same year she married Roger Vadim. The two had known each other for years,
& she wanted to marry him when she was 17, but her parents squashed
any plans until she turned 18. Their union lasted only five years.
Based upon her success in French films she made her first US production in 1953
in 'Un acte d'amour' (1954), with Kirk Douglas, & will always be remembered
for her role in 1956's 'And God Created Woman'. The fascination of her
in the US consisted of magazines photographs & dubbed over French films.
She was & always would be a totally French product. Nonetheless, she was extremely
popular to American audiences. In 1965, she appeared as herself in the
US made 'Dear Brigitte' (1965) with James Stewart. Just before she turned 40,
Brigitte retired from movies after filming Histoire très bonne et très
joyeuse de Colinot Trousse-Chemise, L' (1973). She prefers life outside
of stardom. While it enabled her to become internationally famous, it also
carried with it annoyances. She was constantly hounded by adoring fans
entering her home, or onto the grounds in the hopes of getting a glimpse
of the bombshell, & the Paparazzi constantly surrounded her with their cameras.
Brigitte went on to become a leading spokesperson for animal rights
& started the "Foundation Brigitte Bardot" where she is still very active
& dedicated solely to that cause
