This roving is much better quality than the imported roving sold on eBay; the fleeces were very clean and the staple lengths were 3 to 4 inches.  The color is a beautiful brown. 
 
The roving is natural colored super-soft Merino wool from several of our own organically raised purebred Merino sheep.  This 2 oz (ounces) of roving was professionally prepared by Stonehedge Fiber Mill of Minnesota, one of few mills that is equipped to process small quantities of Merino wool (even one fleece!) from independent farms in the United States.
 
 
The picture shows the roving sitting on top of one of my locker hooked pieces.  The roving splits easily into two sections, which is shown in the front of the photo.  It does not have to be pre-drafted before spinning.  This roving is very clean and easy to spin; I learned to spin with it.  It is also excellent roving for felting.

About our Flock

Our farm is located in the flood plains in the midlands of South Carolina.  The climate is warm year-round, and coupled with plenty of rain, allows many varieties of grasses to flourish.  Our sheep graze on these lush grass pastures year-round.  This keeps our sheep extremely healthy and helps to keep our fleeces so clean.
 
 
Our flock is small, with only 35 sheep at present, with pure-bred Merino, pure-bred Jacob, Jacobino (Jacob x Merino) and Shetland crosses.  We visit and interact with all of them twice daily.  This allows us (Karen and Bob) the opportunity to know the personality of each sheep!

 
We are very pleased with our breeding program, and enjoy bringing out the best characteristics into their fiber.  We look forward to breeding our newest sheep, the Shetlands, with our Merino rams this year.

 

Shipping and Payments

 

Order will be shipping via USPS Priority Mail only (Parcel Post was only $0.25 less and does not include tracking so it will not be offered!) and should arrive within 2 business days.  We have added a $1 handling fee to offset the cost of bringing your package to the post office.

 

Orders will be shipped within two business days (usually one!).  You will receive a confirmation number so you can track your shipment.  Since we ship so quickly, you must contact us immediately if you are adding additional orders to your shipment so you can qualify for a shipping discount.
