BUCO J23 HORSEHIDE JACKET SIZE 46 - WITH ORIGINAL BELT - MOUTON COLLAR - PLUS AN AUTHENTIC 1952 BUCO CATALOG

LIKE THE HOLY GRAIL OF VINTAGE JACKETS!

I am selling a number of jackets to reduce my collection, and this is one of the crown jewels. It is almost a one of a kind find - a horsehide Buco in a large size (46), in great shape, with the original signed Buco belt and snap-on mouton collar. Just as rare and also included is an original 1952 Buco catalog.

The jacket is nicely broken in and soft, with a great patina. I believe the hardware is all original. The zippers on the body are all double signed Talons; the sleeve zippers are Conmar. The possible exception may be the small chest pocket zipper, which also has a double signed Talon, but it is white metal. I do not see any stitch holes to indicate that any zipper was replaced. If it was done, it was done a long time ago, and extremely well.

The original satin quilted lining is in great shape (the J23 had this; the J22 had a blanket lining). The jacket has one flaw - the left sleeve lining is missing. The belt is in very good condition, with two riveted loops to attach to the body of the jacket. The mouton collar looks like it was never worn. The 1952 catalog is entirely complete and intact, with minimal wear.

Measurements are as follows: Across chest (underarm to underarm) - 23". Shoulder seam to shoulder seam in back - 20". Sleeve from shoulder seam to cuff end - 26". Top of collar in back to bottom of jacket - 25 1/2". I think that it really is more of a modern 44, judging by the fit on me.

Shipping will be by Priority Mail, with mandatory insurance for both our protection, and will be a flat $30.00 International shipping will vary according to country, but my guess is that it will probably run about $50-60 to Europe.

This is almost a one of a kind chance that you will find all these items together and in this type of condition, so bid often and high. Good luck to the very happy winner!

Questions and answers about this item

Q: what weight person do you think it fits properly? What would the waist measurement be?
A: Waist measurement on the outside of the jacket is a little bigger than 42 inches. So I'm guessing it would fit someone with a 40-42 waist. As for weight, I really don't know - I'm a bad guesser. My very rough... Continue reading

Q: I am very close by as I live in New York, I would like to come by see the jacket and talk with you about it, please let me know if that is possible. Regards Guy
A: I have no objection to that, but the auction will go to completion. I have been away the past few days, so it would have to be tomorrow after work right before the auction ended.

Q: Hi, if you decide to sell at a lower price, i`d pay $1000. Thanks.
A: Thank you for your offer, but it's worth more than that; especially with the original accessories and the very rare catalog. MS

Q: do you have any in size 42 or 44? how difficult is the sleeve to repair? THX
A: Just the 46. As for the sleeve lining, you'd have to ask a leather repair place.
