The voluptuous base for this traditional Indonesian instrument gives it its name, bundar (round). The kalimba, or thumb piano, is easy to play and produces a hollow tone when its iron leaves are plucked. Ading, a musician himself, handcrafts the traditional musical instruments of Java and others that have become part of the island's musical repertoire. He uses a dried and hollowed maja fruit, covered in plywood. A small hole is placed at the center of the piece, allowing the sound of plucked iron leaves to resonate.
