I will be writing a review on the legendary compilation album entitled "10 FROM 6" by one of Rock's greatest bands. I give you one of England's pride and joy's, BAD COMPANY. The compilation "10 FROM 6" album was originally released in 1985 on Vinyl/LP and Cassette on the Swan Song Inc. Records label in association with Atlantic Records. Swan Song Inc. Records was owned by THE MIGHTY LED ZEPPELIN. I purchased the very first release of this compilation album on Compact Disc in the late 80's. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary compilation album or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the best informative and most accurate review possible.
BAD COMPANY will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history and be remembered for recording some of Rock's most classic songs during one of Rock's finest hours. BAD COMPANY, comprising of legendary lead vocalist Paul Rodgers, Mott The Hoople lead and rhythm guitarist Mick Ralphs, drummer Simon Kirke and bassist Boz Burrell would be formed in 1973. Also in 1973, BAD COMPANY would be the first Rock n' Roll band to be signed to LED ZEPPELIN'S Record Label Swan Song Inc. BAD COMPANY would record great songs full speed ahead from 1974 to 1982. During this period, some of BAD COMPANY'S songs would also become Rock anthems which would endure to this very day. BAD COMPANY'S "10 FROM 6" compilation album is a mini-collection of their greatest hits from 1974 to 1982 on one CD. In my opinion, "10 FROM 6" is a true testament of the musical genius and creativity of four talented musicians and a fine fitting tribute to a great band that was indeed, far ahead of their time.
It is time for me to let BAD COMPANY'S Rock n' Roll speak for itslf and do all of the talking. This legendary compilation album doesn't waste any time when it begins with the blistering Rocker "Can't Get Enough," the smooth slow Rock anthem "Feel Like Makin' love," the a*s kicking Rocker "Run With The Pack," the groundbreaking acoustic Rock n' Roll story "Shooting Star," the ramblin' Rocker "Movin' On," the legendary self-titled merciless Rocker that started it all, "Bad Company," the full-hearted Rocker with a great beat, "Rock n'Roll Fantasy." the mysterious mild Rocker "Electric Land," the slow soothing sizzlin' Rocker "Ready For Love" and the fast paced Rocker with an attitude, "Live For The Music." May I also add that Paul Rodgers merciless lead vocals were hitting their mark throughout this whole compilation album. Lead and rhythm guitarist Mick Ralphs blistering riffs and licks were setting the tone for the music and taking it to the next level.
Overall, "10 FROM 6" is definitely a great compilation album worth seeking out and checking further into especially if you are a devout BAD COMPANY diehard collector or if you are a newcomer or beginner to the sound and music of BAD COMPANY. However, I would also like to highly recommend purchasing the BAD COMPANY "Anthology" album on a Two-Compact Disc set released in 1999. With the "Anthology" album, you get more songs throughout BAD COMPANY'S long and glorious career.
I would like to highly recommend purchasing this legendary compilation album to own as a valuable and important part of his or her own personal music collection. This legendary compilation album has already proven to stand the test of time and will always be around to be enjoyed, appreciated and cherished for many years to come, NOW AND FOREVER. In my opinion, "10 FROM 6" is one BAD COMPANY mini-collection that no devout BAD COMPANY collector would want to be without.
In closing, BAD COMPANY would have their fair share of ups and downs and highs and lows throughout their whole career. With that in mind, BAD COMPANY would persevere for many years despite Rodgers' departure in 1982. Rodgers would then go on to form the band THE FIRM with LED ZEPPELIN guitar legend Jimmy Page in the mid 80's. However, after a long break and layoff, Rodgers would return to the fold for the long awaited BAD COMPANY reunion in 1999. BAD COMPANY would release a new studio album in 2000. Rodgers recently has been touring as the leading frontman of the legendary Rock band QUEEN with all of the remaining surviving members. I really truly believe with all of my heart that we have not seen or heard the last of BAD COMPANY yet. BAD COMPANY has contributed and accomplished so much in Rock n' Roll that I still feel that there is still a lot more to come from this legendary band. THE BEST IS STILL YET TO COME. So here's to you Paul, Mick, Simon and Boz. Thanks for the great memories. Keep Persevering. Keep The Faith. And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," need I say more? Thanks for reading my review and I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also hope that you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. BAD COMPANY RULES. Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy
