Yarn
Bright, Soft
Colors with a Wonderful Sheen
Our banana silk
yarn is hand spun and hand dyed in Nepal. The colors are brilliant yet soft, with
a wonderful sheen that catches the light.
When knitted up, the fabric is sturdy, soft and luxurious, with a bit of
a fuzzy look. The weight is
generally chunky, with less consistency in thickness than machine-spun yarns,
adding to the unique look.
This yarn is not
available in dye lots. Please order
as many skeins as you need for your project. Simply enter the quantity of skeins you
would like. Each skein is 100 grams
or about 60 yards.
Suggested needle
size is US 8-10 (metric 5-6 mm, UK/Canada 6-4) and gauge is approximately 12-16
stitches per 10 cm (3-4 stitches per
inch).
What is Banana
Silk?
Banana silk is spun
from banana tree fibers, which are refined and processed. Most banana silk yarn is from
Asia. The fibers are spun into yarn and hand
dyed by women’s groups in Nepal, providing
additional income for their families.
Banana silk is a renewable, sustainable natural fiber
yarn.
