Band of Brothers C-47 Matt Hall Signed Aviation Art AP

Limited edition aviation art print Angels From Above signed by 12 Market Garden veterans and artist MATT HALL.  This is the Artist’s Proof Edition which is now SOLD OUT at the publisher.  This print depicts the action on September 17, 1944 as C-47 Dakotas of the 9^th Troop Carrier Command execute a drop of the 82^nd and 101^st Airborne Divisions over Holland.  The operation was known as Operation Market Garden and required paratroopers to seize and hold a series of bridges leading to the Rhine and the heart of Germany.  Tragically, determined enemy resistance, questionable command decisions, and weather caused the effort to fall short of its intended goal.  Nevertheless, part of Holland was liberated by American, British, and Polish Airborne troops.

The Artist’s Proof Edition was limited to just 190 prints.  It is hard to find recently published D-Day or Market Garden prints by any artist that bear signatures of the quality found on this print.  The edition is signed by the following 12 Market Garden veterans, many of whom will be familiar as Easy Company Band of Brothers veterans, and including a key 82nd Airborne veteran:

The Artist’s Proof Edition also includes (i) a piece of metal from an 81st Squadron C-47 (depicted in the print) that flew on D-Day, Market Garden, the Bastogne re-supply, and the Berlin Airlift, and (ii) 82^nd Airborne and 101^st Airborne pins.  The metal and pins are very suitable for framing with the print.
