I'm currently listing a large number of playbills representing some of the most memorable Broadway performances of the 1950's and 1960's ......... This is a June 1965 playbill from the Original Broadway production of the JULE STYNE and BOB MERRILL musical comedy hit "FUNNY GIRL" which played the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City. (The production opened March 26th, 1964 and ran for 1348 performances.) ..... The musical marked the first starring role for BARBRA STREISAND as "Fanny Brice" and also starred SYDNEY CHAPLIN as "Nick Arnstein". Featured in the cast were KAY MEDFORD, LEE ALLEN, FRITZI BURR, ALAN MANSON, JOSEPH MACAULAY, BUZZ MILLER, GEORGE REEDER and ROYCE WALLACE ..... The 54 page playbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and bios of each of the leading actors and members of the creative team but with the exception of the front cover, no cast photos. The playbill includes full page ads for the Original Broadway Cast recording of "FUNNY GIRL" on Capitol Records and BARBRA STREISAND's first five solo LP's on Columbia Records (both shown in scanned images). Also includes the AL HIRSCHFELD illustration of NANCY WALKER and WALTER MATTHAU as "Romeo and Juliet", number 16 in the series "Unlikely Casting" .....
