This is a relist. Because this nice little basket didn't sell the first time around, I will also add in a similar but larger basket along with the original, and will lower the opening bid to $1.95 for the pair - less than $1 apiece. Someone could get a real bargain!
Up for auction is a pair of beautifully woven tribal folk art baskets, made by talented weavers from South America. The weavers from the region this basket was made are renowned for the fineness and attractiveness of their baskets. Each of these nice baskets are beautifully woven, with has a square base and a lid with a striped pattern. The smaller basket has a black pattern on a natural background, and the larger is red and green on a natural background. These are fairly small baskets, and may have been intended to hold coins, keys, or other small personal items. A very nice and well crafted pair of international folk art baskets!
The larger basket measures 3¼" square and 4" deep. The smaller one measures 2" square at the lid, and the lid of the basket slides and can be adjusted anywhere from 3" to 4" deep. Both baskets are in pristine condition with no breaks, stains, or any damage whatsoever. This is a lovely example of innovative international folk art weaving and will make a terrific addition to someone's collection.
