"Just got the Douglas WEB-846 bass I ordered from you, and I have to say I'm pretty happy so far. My main bass is a $2300 fretted 6 string, and while the Douglas doesn't quite stand up to that one, I'd say it's easily as good as any $500-$800 bass out there. Finish and fit are good, stays in tune quite well, and it sounds good plugged in. I was a little nervous waiting for it to arrive, but I think once I put my preferred brand of strings on it and set the intonation I'll be happy as a clam. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this bass to anyone interested in fretless, or just looking for a backup. Good job guys.

"I got the 6 string bass yesterday. I am very impressed. A decent bass at a great price. I have played 4 string for 20 years. I wanted an inexpensive six string to try out just in case 6 string wasn't for me. I looked locally and would have paid more then twice what you charged. This one looks better then those. I will leave positive feedback. Thanks again for the good deal. steevo 7-2005
"Kurt, I just wanted to e-mail you to let you know how satisfied I am with my-bass. This is my first time to buy a bass and I was extremely surprised with what I recieved. The first thing I check on a guitar or bass is the feel of the switches and pots and I was pleasantly surprised to find that those on my j-bass did not feel cheap at all. The neck seemed perfect and the fret edges were as smooth as those on my MIA Stratocaster. I was expecting to have to adjust the truss rod and saddles, but amazingly all I had to do was tune up. The truss rod needed no adjustment and the intonation was dead on. The finish was very acceptable and was similar or better than the finish on American Fenders. Thank you for restoring my faith in "budget" instruments and proving that I don't need to spend close to $1000 to get a high quality instrument. Feel free to use my statement to promote Essex and I will recommend you to my friends in the future. Sincerely, Ian Dove" 2/1/2003
"This is just to thank you for a phenomenal bass! I know you've heard this many times, but here's another bassist telling you that the bass sounds better and plays better than much higher priced basses. I've been playing bass for 22 years and I'm very good at what I do: My SX Jazz is a cherished addition to my collection, and I play it often. I'm spreading the word about your amazing products. Thank you!! I'll be back for a five-string as soon as I have some cashflow. " Hill from Baltimore. 4-7-2003
"Kurt, Recieved the bass yesterday, and it play's great. Looks great too. I had a mid 70's fender jazz bass years ago and this thing play's nearly as good and looks better. Thanks for the quick shipment as well, I wasn't expecting it until next week. Sorry I can't leave you feedback as this was not an ebay transaction however I will keep you in mind as I need things. Even though I have 25+ guitars alway's wanted a replacement for the Gibson goldtop les paul that I sold 10 years ago to help finance my house. hmmmmmm. Anyway thanks again. Wally Levins
"Hello Kurt, I just received my bass today and was compelled to write to you and share my experience with your company. First, let me preface this by saying I have purchased from all of the big mail order and many of the small mail order companies over the years and feel that I know what to expect as far as delivery times and quality vs. value etc.... and I must say you have beat them all. I am guitar teacher that teaches bass as well and intended to buy a bass that I could use for some home studio stuff etc. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my bass and saw the quality and feel of this instrument. Plugged in it sounds equally impressive. And what is even more impressive is the price point at which you can sell these, amazing! Now for my comment on your shipping.... let's see, I received your e-mail tracking number Monday and had the bass Tuesday....unbelievable!! I am not the type of person who writes a letter on every impulse however I do feel that people do need to know when they are doing an outstanding job. Needless to say kurt I am one very satisfied customer with me and I will do all I can to spread the news about your company. Thanks again for all your help and keep up the good work. "I received the bass today. It exceeded my expectations many times over. It looks and plays a lot better than I could have hoped for. Thanks for making such a spectacular yet affordable bass guitar available. Next time I look for a guitar or bass, I will take another Essex into consideration." Joe Drew August 29, 2001
