Nice clear type 3r cancel from the battleship USS UTAH (BB-31) dated Apr 17, 1922. "ALGIERS/ALGERIA" in the killer bars. UTAH was serving as the flagship for U.S. Naval forces in Europe at this time. Given the typed address and commemorative stamp, probably a very early philatelic cover.

UTAH was demilitarized and converted to a target ship in 1931. She was in Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941 and was one of two ship sunk during the Japanese raid. Her rusted hulk is still there.
