  I am thrilled to be able to you this very special Repaired Teddy Bear Clown! His name is Ogilvy and he is 15" tall.

  Created to look extremely well loved and well worn, he is part of  "Beardsley's Traveling Mohair Carnival" and also a Repaired Bear..very special indeed!

  Ogilvy is made of 3 different qualities of German Mohair, hand dyed and very distressed (antiqued). He has one antique wooden shoe button eye, and one stitched *replaced* eye. Stitched with a lovely vintage cotton thread, wonderful patina.

 He has been oversewn here and there, and shaded to make him look even older :o) Paws and Pads have been *replaced* with leather pieces, which I have antiqued and also vintage cotton plaid, antiqued and over-dyed. Generally he is just antiqued to pieces!,  in wonderful shape, considering ;o) Hat, and primitive buttonson it and  on front of tummy are Merino wool, shaded and antiqued to match. His true coloring is pale russet, and olive drab, a mossy green of sorts. Just beautiful.

  oh... Ogilvy is a center seamed teddy..did you know that when the teddy bear manufactures of old, made center seamed teddies, it was to save on mohair? Yes, they used every bit if the expensive mohair any way they could, as a result, center seamed teddies were created.(Mohair was also in short supply for quite some time during the wars(s). There were not that many of them (centered seamed teddies),  this fellow is a replica of those wonderful old timers:o) He has been entirely sewn with black cotton thread, which was also used back in the day, to save money. He truly appears to be very very olde. I love the way he turned out!

   5 vintage cotton claws add to his charm. Nose and mouth are waxed and sealed, dulled to look and feel old.

  Cotton ruff is actually fashioned from an old Amish curtain so kindly given to me, aged naturally from the sun. I think it was black to begin with.

  Filled softly with excelsior, and weighted nicely with securely encased steel shot.

Ogilvy with surely be a wonderful addition to your collection and will fit in perfectly with olde toys, quilts and primitives..(your bear hug also!)
