The BEATLES "Yesterday And Today" lp, commonly known as the "Butcher Cover", is the Holy Grail for Beatles collectors. Ofter ridiculously priced because of it's rarity, but here is an opportunity to get your own genuine 2nd state copy for much less than it's usual high asking price. This is for the album cover only. It has a record, but it's pretty worthless. This would be perfect for someone with a nice copy of the original vinyl to get an original 2nd state cover to go with it. This is a genuine 2nd state cover. The dark shape of the "V" created by Ringo's black shirt against his white lab smock on the original slick is clearly visible to the right of Ringo on the pasteover; although my photo didn't really capture it...it's there. The unusual texture of the paper with the Butcher photo is also visible. This is ready for a professional removal and can potentially be a fantastic and valuable investment. Although this cover is 43 years old and is not in perfect condition, it is in very acceptable condition for display after pasteover removal. As the availabilty of these original covers decreases, the aceptability of the quality seems to fluctuate. This is a mono copy pressed in Los Angeles, as designated by a "6" printed near the RIAA symbol on the lower right back cover. The outer spine has fairly substantial split as illustrated in the picture, but would be acceptable if framed after pasteover removal. The top spine also has splits on both corners: a 1 1/2" split on the side that the record goes in and a split on the outer spine top corner that almost 1". The bottom spine has no splits but the lower right corner is a little rubbed raw. On the upper right front cover near the Capitol logo, someone wrote "Cantrell" in pen and on the back cover someone wrote "Cathy Ridinger" and it was scribbled over in what looks like the same ink as the pen used on the front. There are also 2 holes, 1 1/4" apart, on the bottom right front cover (and they don't go all the way through to the back, only through the front half) that I personally have no explanation for...a price tag? Although the record is basically worthless, it does have the original Capitol inner sleeve. It has splits on all 3 side and a small tear but it still holds the record in. Overall, I would describe it as worn in places with light yellowing, no more than expected for a record this old. I'm new to e-bay. I decided to try it out. I've been a collector most of my life, so I know how shady and unscrupulous dealers can sometimes be. So it's important to me to treat serious buyers the best way I can, the same way I would want to be treated. Although being new means no feedback rating, I can assure everyone that I am a totally honest and legit individual selling from his private collection. I'll be glad to answer any questions regardiing this auction ASAP. And please, serious and responsible bidders only. |
