Summary:

'Unfinished Music No 2: Life With the Lions' was John Lennon’s 2nd UK Solo album - released in 1969 - and the FIRST of only TWO UK albums issued on The Beatles Experimental 'ZAPPLE' label, launched on 9 May 1969.

‘Zapple’ was intended to be an Apple ‘budget’ label, with the idea being that records would be priced cheaply enough to discard after playing, but when they made the shops they ended up being priced normally! Just like John’s first solo release, ‘Life With The Lions’ also did not chart, selling only around 5,000 copies at the time, therefore,making it EXTREMELY SOUGHT AFTER in the STUNNING NEW CONDITION OF THIS EXAMPLE!

Album Description:

Released on 9 May 1969, this Original FIRST ISSUE Stereo Vinyl LP is on the Custom Green Apple label printed ‘ZAPPLE’ in Silver, with ‘Apple Records’ label rim and ‘Mfd in UK’ printed to both record labels, together with the catalogue number ‘ZAPPLE 01’.

Side 1 of the album was recorded live at Lady Mitchell Hall, Cambridge, England on 2 March 1969. Side 2 was recorded on a cassette at Queen Charlotte Hospital, Second West Ward, Room 1, London, England from the 4th to 25 November 1968, during Yoko’s pregnancy and stay at the Hospital.

Side 1 stampers: 1/P and side 2: 1/T.

The Vinyl LP comes in an ORIGINAL White Printed Apple Recordings Inner Bag.

Comes with it’s ORIGINAL 11.75" x 11.75" (30 cms x 30 cms) Thin Card Printed Insert outlining the contents of the album. The Apple Records, 3 Savile Row, London W.1 address is printed to the bottom of the insert.

The LP and Insert are housed in an ORIGINAL and TRULY IMMACULATE UK First Issue Fully Laminated Garrod & Lofthouse Picture Sleeve, printed ‘Made In Merrie England Nov. '68’ to the reverse of the sleeve.

Audio Quality:

Both sides play SUPERBLY without any skips, clicks or distortion, and in my opinion the NEW LOOKING Vinyl Disc has only received this ONE play from me.

Condition:

Both record labels are mint. NOT A SINGLE SPIDER TRAIL visible, PURE, AS NEW, UNDAMAGED Record Labels.

Both sides of the Vinyl disc are mint. AS NEW, STUNNING, DAY OF RELEASE condition – just as the disc would have looked when it was purchased in the record store over 40 years ago!

The Original Printed Apple Recordings Inner Bag is in FINE excellent plus condition. The bag is CLEAN with NO handwriting, just mild creasing to the top right hand corner and a 2" seam split to one of the edges, caused by the heavyweight vinyl disc rubbing against the inner bag.

The Original Thin Card Printed Insert is in SUPERB near mint condition, with nothing more than a little mild creasing.

The Original Fully Laminated Garrod and Lofthouse Sleeve LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD HAVE DONE WHEN IT LEFT THE RECORD STORE back in 1969, and we cannot justify grading it any short of mint. The Laminate is STUNNINGLY GLOSSY, there’s NO record indentation, NO creasing. The sleeve is PERFECTLY FLAT and FIRM. The spine edge is in SUPER, UNDAMAGED condition, all spine wording clear and readable. All edges and corners are SHARP. The opening edge LOOKS NEW, and it is obvious that the LP has barely been taken in and out of the sleeve – NEEDS TO BE SEEN TO BE FULLY APPRECIATED.

This is an ABSOLUTELY TOP INVESTMENT GRADE example and a FINAL UPGRADE to any Serious Apple or Beatles collection.
