This is an antique piano built by the Poole Piano Company of Boston, MA circa 1915, serial # 59942. It has beautiful carvings on the front and the cabinet is Burl Cherry wood with unique rounded sides. Poole pianos was established in 1893 by William H. Poole, a highly established piano craftsman, as a subsidiary of Ivers & Pond Company of Memphis, TN. Poole Piano Company built high quality, expensive pianos from 1893 to 1982 and with Ivers & Pond reputation for structural integrity, extreme durability and excellent tones. Poole pianos are noted for even, superbly well-balanced scale and are endorsed, recognized and sought out by prominent musicians, dealers and have maintained their excellent reputation for over a century.
The previous owner of this piano was a music teacher from Germany that played in public appearances in this country. It has been well maintained and holds a tune for a very long time.
Added to listing 5/6/08--a couple inside photos and closeup of the 1 key that is missing ivory and the type of chip that is in 17 of the keys. All keys work. There is a small missing piece of veneer near the the foot pedals missing about 8" long seen in photo. A small scratch can be seen on the keyboard cover in photo. But on a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 7 for condition & quality. This piano refurbished would be worth between $5,000 and $8,000.
This piano is for pickup only and cannot be delivered. I would consider a delivery within 75 miles of it's location for an agreed upon fee, but would need payment in advance of delivery and sale would be final as to avoid a return trip.
