Beautiful Art Nouveau German Majolica pottery Jug c1910

A truly beautiful European pottery jug. Probably German going by the base markings (see pics) The jug has elements of Nouveau- along with classical and peasant folk art motifs- in a striking and unusual decorative combination. The decoration is perfectly accentuated by the treacle like majolica glazes- which run darker into recesses and highlight the high points in the pattern with a lighter glaze effect. Just beautiful as shown.

Condition also is excellent. A couple of tiny flecks of glaze have chipped from around the base- otherwise no chips to pottery and no cracks. A delightful piece of European Nouveau era Majolica that cannot fail to please upon inspection. German ca 1910
