Nice Art Pottery Sagger Fired Hand Crafted Pot
I purchased this from the potter two years ago. Purchased in central Pennsylvania, the potter was Gary Leitzel from the Red Bank Pottery, in Mt Pleasant Mills, PA.
The pot is called Sagger Fired which means it the pot is placed in its own container in the kiln surrounded with different combustibles and metallic oxides - as the sagger and the pot are heated, the materials in the sagger smoke and fume the surface of the pot. There is no glaze on the pot so it has a gray matted color on the top and bottom with a green and purple metallic raised area around the center. Very pretty, great organic look. Very good condition, no chips, cracks, etc.
Measures 8.5" tall and about 8.5" wide in the center, top opening is just under 3". Signed on the bottom. I have the artist's card and will include it with the pot.
Great Art Pottery piece. Fits in all kinds of settings from antique to modern. Thanks for looking, please email with any questions.
