A truly lovely wooden tea caddy, nicely trimmed in a lighter wood to its rimmed edges. Hand engraved brass plates adorn the front and lid as shown, cleverly traversing the boxes opening edges without fuss. The box has its original lock- however no key. To the underside of the box remains a paper label- please see the close up picture here. I am assuming this is a French made article however I am open to clarification via email if you suspect otherwise?. As you see one side of the boxes lid has a small split, and the timber here has sprung slightly open at the split. If this were properly glued and clamped the box would close shut completely again. This is a small, repairable detraction from a truly beautiful French caddy- rarely seen one ebay and a delightful box for any purpose today aside from its place in an antique tea caddy collection.
