Okay, just reduced this one
Eldridge Johnson, owner of Victor Talking Machines, always considered his machines to be instruments not furniture. After other victrola mfg's introduced products that didn't open from the top, and a lamp or plant could be placed on the top like you would a piece of furniture, Victor dealers begged for something comparable that they could offer. This was Johnson's answer. With a humpback lid, and curved top, there isn't a flat surface to be found. Introduced in 1921, this is the model that changed the shape of his entire line for years.
And it's a beauty. The golden oak streaks just glow through this one. Serial number 23533 puts it in the mfg first year. With the big four-spring motor, you won't have to rewind as much (but please change your needles.) Great shape No.2 soundbox, speed indicator works, to my knowledge all original hardware, and is in great/good shape. Motor runs smooth. Only minor flaw on machine is small veneer patch, and is expertly repaired and matched, on the front left door that is shown in the last picture. It was cleaned up before I got it. Lived with me, while I lived in Camden at the Victory factory, which has been renovated into upscale waterfront apartments. Have since moved, and am building a smaller home, so I'm looking for a good home for this gorgeous machine.
Times are tough, so I am putting the reserve at less then what I paid for it a couple of years ago. This is a beautiful, historical piece.
