Clive Barker’s Hellraiser series of films, gives his own unique and
personal guide to cinema monsters and the men who portrayed them,
including Lon Chaney and Boris Karloff, and such unforgettable
creatures as The Wolf Man, The Phantom of the Opera and The Hunchback
of Notre Dame. Bradley also examines the cultural, historical and
dramatic roles the mask has played throughout time, and the physical
rigours the actors who play monsters must endure. Bringing the
subject up to date, he looks at modern-day monsters Leatherface (Texas
Chain Saw Massacre), Freddie Krueger (Nightmare On Elm Street), Jason
(Friday the 13th) and, of course, the creation of Pinhead.
