Buying
leather can be confusing because there are many grades
to consider and some variations within each grade.
When buying fine leather furniture, it should always
be TOP GRAIN. There are three types of top grain leather:
Corrected Grain
Semi Corrected Grain
Natural Grain

Top Grain (Corrected) is the most commonly
used leather. Its surface is polished smooth to remove
imperfections before the surface coating is applied.
A new grain pattern is then embossed to provide a
perfectly consist surface. Corrected Grain leather
is considered the most durable. All Corrected Grain
leathers also have an additional protective coating
applied to make the leather especially resistant to
stains. Corrected grain leathers provide a great combination
of durability and value. All
BenchMastser Chairs feature a Top Grain (Corrected)
leather which comes with a Seven Year Warranty.

Top Grain (Semi-Corrected) have been lightly
buffed to remove any natural blemishes in the leather,
leaving the natural grain and feel of the leather.
These Semi Corrected Leathers are dyed through and
then have a light surface coating containing a small
amount of pigment applied. This surface coating makes
the leather more resistant to stains, while still
retaining the natural appearance and softness of full
natural grain leather.

Natural
Grain is uncorrected leather that is made
from only the finest hides. A natural grain is the
softest, most natural looking leather with the unique
surface characteristics of the hide remaining visible.
Of course the natural grain is always softest (and
the most expensive), but requires the most care and
maintenance.

Types
TOP GRAIN - Top grain refers to the place
in the hide where the leather came from, which is
the top portion of the hide (approximately the thickness
of a penny). Top grain leathers can be full grain
semi-corrected grain,or corrected grain (explained
above)
SPLIT GRAIN - The term refers to the underneath
layers of the hide which have been 'split' off from
the top grain. Split Grains are buffed and embossed
to look like top grain leather, but are always stiffer
than top grain leather.
LEATHER MATCH - is
a durable vinyl (PVC) that is custom matched to be
visually undetectable from the leather, and can be
used to upholster the back and underside of the chair
(non-seating areas) to lower the cost.
MICROFIBER - is a synthetic suede like material.
Most Microfiber's are a 100% Woven Polyester top face
with a Polyester / Cotton backing which gives it strength
and durability. It may also contain a water repellant
stain protection coating enabling it to repel all
fluids.
