Beseler 23CII enlarger
features:
- Handles negatives from 8mm up to 2-1/4" x 3-1/4" (6x9cm)
without the need for extra condensers.
- The chassis is designed to magnify a 35mm negative 14X on the baseboard.
This allows for a maximum print size of approx. 14" X 18.8".

Swiveling lamp house allows you to make even larger prints on the wall
without removing the enlarger from the baseboard
(see picture below)

The chassis is an inclined double rail made of
black painted steel.
The entire lamphouse assembly rides on 2 sturdy geared tracks.
The height is controlled with a hand crank, and elevation is assisted
by a
double spring
counterbalance system.
An elevation lock prevents movement of the lamphouse.

- Stock 23CII as sold by Beseler: column, 23CII head, original Beseler baseboard
- Cavalier 75mm f/3.5 to f/16 enlarging lens
- Beseler lensboard with rear counterbore and white lucite illuminating pipe
- A good photocopy of the instructions
Additional notes on this unit:
- The enlarger is in excellent cosmetic and functional shape.
- All parts complete and working operation checked
- This is a later model (newer version) of the 23CII. You can tell by:
- Lower filter holder: Swing arm style (vs. older sliding drawer)
- Upper lamp cap: screw in bulb (vs. older bayonet mount bulb)
- Very few scratches outside of a rub mark on the right rail.
Very little (if any) surface rust.
- Enlarger's condenser lens (big glass) in excellent condition
- Frame transport is smooth and steady, and the frame is solid.
- Both upper and lower bellows in good condition - soft, dark, free of cracks and light tight.
- Cavalier lens condition:
- Glass and body are clean and without scratches.
Glass is clear, without haze or fungus on the lens elements.
- Under close scrutiny and bright light you can see a few pieces of micro-dust inside.
This is fairly common on even 'mint' used lenses.
- Mechanics are crisp, f/stop clicks are sharp and audible
- Also includes a 39mm mounting ring - made of metal, not plastic
- Serial number 149117
- Will serve as a fine 'intro' lens for most photographers,
and make a good backup should you decide to upgrade to a premier lens
(Schneider Componon-S, El-Nikkor, etc.)
- Beseler lensboard with 39mm opening (and rear counterbore) fits most 50mm enlarging lenses
(Schneider, El-Nikkor, etc.)
It has a clear lucite pilot light to assist in setting lens aperature.
- Baseboard is in excellent shape, largely free of stains and scratches.
No warping (even on the corners), lies perfectly flat on a marble table.
Even the underside looks great (see pictures below).
- Sorry, does not include a negative carrier.
They don't come with the 'stock' enlarger from Beseler,
and are generally sold separate from the 23CII.
They're easy to find on eBay, however.
- Will be carefully disassembled (where needed) and packed.
- Enlarger will be shipped in a single custom constructed box -
saving you shipping costs compared to other 2 box shipments.
Packing style is identical to the original Beseler carton.
Most sellers will ship a Beseler enlarger in 2 boxes - one for the frame and baseboard,
and a second for the head.
Beseler's single box packing is much cheaper to ship than 2 separate boxes, but
most sellers don't have the original box - and don't have a replacement of the
right dimensions.
I've custom built my box to the correct size.
My box is also glued together, not simply taped.
